McClure promoted in university job
Craig P. McCLURE, a 1992 graduate of Mount Ayr Community
high school, has been promoted from assistant to associate professor of chemistry at the University of Alabama at
Birmingham. McCLURE received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. His
master's degree and doctorate degree are from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has been teaching at UAB
since 2004. McCLURE is the co-author with Joe L. MARSH of the book Introductory Chemistry: A Guided Inquiry
Approach, a new chemistry textbook. McCLURE'S wife Leslie is an associate professor in the department of
biostatistics at the university. They live in Hoover, AL, with their children Lillian, eight, and Preston, four.
McCLURE'S parents, Joel and Janet McCLURE, live in Phelps, WI, where they own and operate The Hazen Inn.
