Elliott to receive NWMSU award

A Mount Ayr Community graduate will be honored at the upcoming Alumni Awards Banquet at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.

Brad Elliott, a member of the Mount Ayr Class of 2000 and a 2004 graduate of Northwest, will receive the university's Young Alumni Award during ceremonies to be held September 19.

According to a Northwest press release, Elliott "is the co-owner of Podium Ink, a design and marketing firm. While at Northwest, Elliott participated on the men's cross country team as well as the men's track and field team. He also interned for Northwest's Office of University Relations. In addition to owning his own business and working with high profile clients such as Sherwin Williams and Blake Shelton, he volunteers and coaches track at Mount Ayr (Iowa) Community School. He lives in Mount Ayr, Iowa."

The release did not include mention of Elliott coaching the Raider track team to the Class 1A state championship this spring.

"The annual Alumni Awards Banquet is a time for the Northwest community to come together to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements and accomplishments of our cherished alumni and faculty," said Bob Machovsky, director of alumni relations and annual giving.

During the ceremony, the Northwest Alumni Association will honor the recipients of its six traditional awards - Distinguished Alumni Award, Distinguished Faculty Award, Faculty Emeritus Award, Turret Service Award, Honorary Alumni Award and the Young Alumni Award - and will present the inaugural Public Service Award in recognition of outstanding service-minded alumnus or friend.

Tickets cost $30 per person or $200 for a table of eight. Reservations will be accepted until Friday, September 5, on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.nwmissouri.edu/alumni/events/award/registration.htm or contact the Northwest Alumni Association at 600.562.1248 or alumni@nwmissouri.edu.
