The Diagonal Lion's Club once again hosted the annual Labor Day celeberation last weekend. Attendees were treated to a large parade, pedal, lawnmower and tractor pulls, car shows, fireworks and much more.

[Page 8] Sandy Taylor was honored by being named Grand Marshal of the annual Diagonal Lion's Club Labor Day parade Monday.

The Mammoth Labor Day parade with the theme "The American Dream" was a big success with many entries.

Sandy Taylor was chosen to be the parade marshal. Her grandsons, Daniel Graham and Jackson Bohn, drove her down Main Street with three of her great-grandchildren - Ella Graham and Dylan and Drew Graham - accompanying her.

Winners of the parade by category are as follows:

Kids Walking - 1) Cub Scouts; 2) Stephens Family.

Kids with Pets or Vehicles - 1) United Church of Diagonal; 2) Elizabeth and Spot Conrad; 3) Schafer kids.

Kids - Best Overall Theme - 1) RR Fuels; 2) Diagonal Volleball team.

Horses or Horse Drawn Units - 1) David and Lillian Robertson family; 2) Delbert Routh family.

Adults - Best Overall Theme - 1) Lions Club of Diagonal; 2) Just Power and Repair; 3) Laverne and Shirley.

Winners of the Diagonal Labor Day pedal pull have been announced:

Ages 3 and under - 1) Hardie Paxson; 2) Alice Briner; 3) Zander Argetsinger, Bevington.

Ages 4 and 5 - 1) Austin Briner; 2) Nathan Cook; 3) Bryson Martin, Benton.

Ages 6 and 7 - 1) Garrick Clausen, Creston; 2) Mackenzie Knox, Mount Ayr; 3) Ryer Parker, Creston.

Ages 8 and 9 - 1) Tucker Knox, Mount Ayr; 2) Kash Wastney, Shannon City; 3) Owen Whittington.

Ages 10 and 11 - 1) Jacob Novak; 2) Alaina Whittington; 3) Garrett Stephens.
