Third ever Farm Service Agency director named for Ringgold county
For only the third time since Ringgold county has had a Farm Service Agency office, a new director for the county office
has been named. Dan CURRY took over the responsibility of county executive director effective July 30. He replaced Greg
JOBE, who has been promoted to district director for the agency. CURRY is a native of Runnels, where he grew up on a
small cow-calf farm. He earned an animal science degree from Iowa State University and then served for four years in the U.
S. Army as a combat medic, including a tour in Iraq. After completing his service in the Army, he joined the FSA training
program in 2010. In 2011 he was named the county executive director in Guthrie county, before moving to his new position.
His wife, Kim CURRY, is the technology director for the Mount Ayr Community school district. They have a four-year-old
daughter Lillie and a two-year-old son Benjamin. They live in Creston at the present time, but will be looking for an
acreage or small farm to move to in the county. CURRY sought the county position here after Greg JOBE moved to the
district director position for the agency. JOBE was named acting district director in February and took over the district
duties May 6. He will manage a 12-county area of southwest Iowa including Ringgold, Taylor, Page, Fremont, Mills,
Montgomery, Adams, Union, Adair, Cass and East and West Pottawatamie county offices. JOBE has served as the county
executive director of the agency from 1989 to 2012. JOBE replaced Bernard SOBOTKA, the only other district executive
director the agency has had in Ringgold county.
