SW IOWA PRIESTS REASSIGNED
DES MOINES — Des Moines diocese Bishop Richard PATES has announced this year's priest reassignments, effective July 8. Those that affect clergy with ties to southwest Iowa include:
The Rev. Thomas COENEN, from sabbatical to parochial vicar at Queen of Apostles and hospital chaplaincy in Council
Bluffs and special liturgical ministry to the region. COENEN served as associate pastor for Holy Spirit in Creston and St.
Patrick in Lenox, later serving in team ministry for Holy Spirit and St. Edward in Afton. He was pastor at St. Brendan in
Leon, St. Joseph in Mount Ayr and Immaculate Conception in Maloy. He served as pastor for St. Clare in Clarinda, Sacred
Heart in Bedford and St. Joseph in Villisca before becoming pastor at St. Joseph in Earling and St. Peter in Defiance in
2006.
The Rev. Thomas DOOLEY, from parochial vicar at St. Anthony in Des Moines to pastor at St. Mary in Avoca and St. Patrick
in Walnut. DOOLEY served as parochial vicar for St. Theresa and was associate pastor at St. Joseph, both in Des Moines. He
was pastor at several central Iowa parishes and served as administrator for several, as well. He has been parochial vicar
for St. Anthony since 2007.
