THREE AREA NEW CENTURY FARMS
Century farm families were again recognized during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair this year. To qualify, a family
must have owned at least 40 acres for 100 years or more.
The MOFFATT-ANGUS Farm owned by Warren ANGUS, Ruth BLANCHARD KNUDSON'S farm and the MURPHY Farm owned by Danny and
Kathy QUICK from Ringgold County each received a "century farm" certificate and yard sign from the Department
of Agriculture and Farm Bureau during the event. The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has
partnered with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation since 1976 to recognize families who have owned and worked a farm
for 100 years or more. This year 346 farme were recognized, making more than 16,932 farms from across the state
that have received this recognition.
