AWARD PRESENTED TO FORMER LOCAL SHERIFF
The late sheriff Bob BENNETT of Mount Ayr was recently honored as a nominee for the 2006 Law Enforcement
Victim Service Award in recognition of his compassion and dedication to victims of crime. The recognition of the
nomination was made in a certificate presented to BENNETT'S wife. The award was established to honor those in law
enforcement who go above and beyond the call of duty to assist victims of crime. "Victims have received more compassion,
assistance and caring through the dedication and efforts of law enforcement officers such as Bob BENNETT," Matthew G.
WHITAKER, United States Attorney, Southern District of Iowa, said. "It was obvious from your nomination that he was
an outstanding man who was well respected by his fellow officers and his community," WHITAKER said. "We are
sure he is truly missed."
