INDUCTEES to IHSAA HALL of FAME

DES MOINES - Nine new members will be added to the Iowa High School Athletic Associaton's Basketball Hall of Fame at this year's State Tournament. The inductions will be at the halftime of the Class 4A Championship on Saturday, March 8.

Three coaches and six players will be honored . . .

TERRY ANDERSON, Diagonal, 1991 -- The numbers he put up for Coach Dennis TASSELL are legendary. In his high school career he led Diagonal to a record of 87-12 and State Tournament appearances in 1989 and 1991. The 1989 trip ended a 40-year hiatus for the Maroons. Amazingly in those 99 games, he scored in double figures 94 times, including career highs of 51 points twice. In 50 games he pulled down double digit rebounds. He had 50 career double-doubles and in 76 games scored 20 points or more. His career totals of 2,506 points and 1,008 rebounds rank fourth and thirteenth respectively on the all-time lists. He was the first Iowa prep to score over 2,000 points with 1,000 rebounds or more in his career. He was twice named All-State. His senior year he led the state in scoring for all classes with a 34.9 ppg mark. He attended Southwestern Community College in Creston for a year. He is currently a project manager with a West Des Moines construction firm.
