Two awards to Record-News in state contest
Two state awards were picked up by the Mount Ayr Record-News at the Iowa Newspaper Association convention in
Des Moines Friday. The Mount Ayr Record-News received a second place award for best spot photo and second place
for best advertising in a special section. The paper competes in the largest of three weekly newspaper classes in the
state. The spot news photo award was for the picture of the tornado that struck north of Mount Ayr this summer. The
special section advertising was for the section on the grand opening of Ringgold County Hospital. "We were pleased to
receive awards in tough competition from the largest weekly newspapers in the state," said publisher H. Alan SMITH. "We
appreciate that the judges found both a news entry and an advertising entryworth of mention in the contest."
