Ringgold 4-H Delegates Attend Short Course

Ten 4-H boys from Ringgold county are in attendance at the annual Iowa state boys' 4-H short course, which opened Tuesday and closes today, at Iowa State College [present-day Iowa State University, Ames].

Official delegates are Dietrich GERCHKE, Tingley Toppers; Ronald LYNCH, Atom Boys; LeRoy WOOD, Ellston Eagles; Gene JOHNSON, Beacon Bombers; Billy KELLEY, Junior Atoms; Jimmy MEADOWS, Kellerton 4-H Hustlers; Hal GARDNER, Redding 4-H Farmrers and Maloy Shamrocks; Dick TAYLOR, Lincoln Hotshots; Lee FARIS, Liberty Boys and Philip DUKES, Jefferson Happy Hustlers.

Theme of this year's Short Course is "Your Family, You Friends, and You." The principal speaker was Dr. Evelyn DUVALL, nationally known family relations consultant, who made three addresses to the delegates.

Several discussions on a variety of topics pertinent to 4-H boys, included new developments in agriculture, social adjustments and human relationships.

Then annual business meeting with its election of new officers was held the second day of the Short Course, after preliminary campaigning by the candidates for office. Informational sessions on agronomy, agricultural engineering and animal husbandry were held, as well as talks on safety and wearing apparel by specialists in the field.
