One-vehicle accident sends four to hospital

Charges are pending in a one-vehicle accident northeast of Mount Ayr at 3:42 p.m. Monday afernoon which sent four people to the Ringgold County Hospital with injuries.

According to a preliminary accident report, a 1998 Dodge Avenger was being driven north on 250th Avenue north of 210th Street by Edman FLOYD. The driver lost control on the gravel and entered the ditch on the east side of the road, hitting the east side of the ditch and flipping over, coming back on the roadway. The vehicle then caught fire.

Also in the car as passengers were Brian WELCHER and two juveniles.

The Mount Ayr volunteer fire department responded to put the fire out.

There was no estimate of damage to the car yet and the accident is still under investigation by the Ringgold county sheriff's office.

The injured people were transferred to the hospital by ambulance.

Here, fire department members help clean up the scene.
