Volunteer award presented
Ringgold County Hospital's Senior Heath Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) was honored with the Governor's Volunteer Award
in a ceremony held recently at Southeast Polk high school auditorium in Des Moines.The group includes, from left:
Iowa Governor Tom Villsack; Karen Van Buskirk, counselor; Jane Lawhead, contract; and Kay Henderson, counselor. The women help senior citizens
answer questions about Medicare, particularly Part D Medicare prescription drug coverage. The Govenor's Volunteer Award program was established in 1982
to honor and recognize volunteers for the committment, service and time that they contribute to Iowa's government agencies and nonprofit organizations.
More than 500 volunteers were selected for awards.
