Members of the Mount Ayr community high school agriculture class had the opportunity to see the future of
ultrasound use in the livestock industry in a demonstration at the Jim and Ann WERNER Angus farm Tuesday morning. The
Ringgold County Farm Bureau helped sponsor the agriculture in the classroom event which brought Craig L. HAYS from
Iowa State University and the equipment to the WERNER farm.
A story about the Ramsey Farm at Lesanville project was
featured in the October 19 issue of Iowa Farmer Today, a state-wide agricultural publication.
A welcome home and
retirement celebration honoring Sgt. Douglas L. SCHWANDT is planned for Sunday, Nov. 3, at Breadeaux Pizza in Mount Ayr.
SCHWANDT has returned home after being deployed at Fort Campbell, KY and serving one year of active duty in response
to the September 11, 2001 tragedies. SCHWANDT has now served 20 years in the Iowa Army National Guard and will begin
his retirement November 1, 2002.
Luke STILL, a member of the Raider cross county team, qualified as an individual by
placing fourth in the district meet hosted by Pekin at Ottumwa Thursday.
Two Diagonal Community high school volleyball
players received all-conference mention. Gina GUNSOLLEY, Diagonal sophomore, was named to the first team all-conference
list. Junior Trisha MOFFITT was named to the honorable mention list.
