Open house for the new Mount Ayr Products plant, part of the Iowa Assemblies operation that has plants in four other
area communities, is scheduled for November 5. Governor Terry BRANSTAD, who will be in southwest Iowa for the second
annual Great Southwest Iowa Outdoor Roundup, will attend special ceremonies and speak at the plant at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
One new business opening and a new business location opening take place this week in Mount Ayr. Andrew Auto Supply, which
was formerly Underwood Auto Supply located on the east side of the square, has been moved to a new location west of
the Mount Ayr Post Office. Forget Me Not Flowers and Gifts opens Monday, Nov. 4, in a new building at 116 W. Adams,
west of Case Power and Equipment in Mount Ayr. The new business, owned by Steve and Cindy MITCHELL, will have
florist Jeanne JONES on the staff.
A Massey Ferguson combine, being operated at the R. C. RUSH farm 11 miles northeast of Mount Ayr, was badly damaged about
1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, when fire started in its engine. Mount Ayr volunteer firemen were called to the scene. The
combine cab, as well as the engine area, were badly burned. There were no injuries.
