A horse-drawn wagon that traveled across Ringgold county on Highway 2 this weekend drew a lot of comment from people who
noticed it. Three Norwegian Fjord horses were pulling the Amish style trailer and New Hampshire farmer David McWETHY on
his trip across much of the U. S. McWETHY had a radio and tape player in the wagon to keep him company as he travels at
four miles a day.
Elisha JONES, a MACHS junior, has been named a spech all-stater for the second year in a row. She will perform her
prose reading entry at the Iowa all-state speech festival at the Universidty of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls April 11.
Her selection from "On the Verge of the Geography of Yearning: earned her a division I rated at the state speech contests.
Artist in the schools muralist Dennis ADAMS oversaw building of a scaffold that will allow students to paint sections of
the new mural on the wall of the MAC elementary school stage. What once was a blank wall has been transformed into a
mammoth work of art. One section takes the viewer off into the galaxy, two owls are situated around the moon in the
center and an eagle flies in front of the earth in another view.
Air Force Staff Sgt. Lee W. HOHLFELD has arrived for duty at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. HOHLFELD, a quartermaster
officer, is the son of William and Norma HOHLFELD of Mount Ayr.
An agriculture rescue training program was held for EMT-A traineees at the Doyle and Connie RICHARDS farm near Tingley
Saturday. Heading the program were Tammi and Mike BUMAN from Ringgold County Emergency Medical Services staff. Trisha
SHIELDS, who was injured in an accident with a farm auger, shared her experiences.
Tracy ANDERSON, senior on the MACHS basketball squad, was recently given recognition in the Class 2A all-state boys
basketball team.
