The news was bad on the future of the Miracle Recreation Co. plant in Mount Ayr this week, when an official announcement was given
from company headquarters in Grinnell. Miracle Recreation Equipment Co. announced today that it plans to sell its
interior seating business. The seating products, sold primarily to fast food restaurants, were added to the company's
product line two years ago. They are manufactured at the company's plant in Mount Ayr
and a sales office is located in Glendale, CA. The sales office in California will be closed and the Mount Ayr plant
will be sold, Miracle announced. The steps by the company will eliminate approximately 65 jobs in Mount Ayr and 15 in
Glendale, CA, according to company officials. Ringgold County Development Corp. has offered its help to the Miracle
Recreation Company in seeking a buyer for the Mount Ayr facility.
One truckload of hay, collected from the Maloy area last week, went to Des Moines to be sent to the southeastern United
States. The drought has caused that area to badly need hay for their cattle and Iowans are attempting to help.
The Ringgold County Ministerial Association has allied itself with the "Prairie Fire" organization to collect this and
additional hay to be sent. Father John ZEITLER of the Maloy and Mount Ayr Catholic churches, is coordinating
the local project, assisted by Rev. Doris KINTON, president of the Ringgold County Ministerial Association.
Dr. Hema PATEL, M.D., had begun her practice in Mount Ayr, she has announced this week. Dr. Bhal PATEL, her husband,
started as an associate with Dr. Roy FELL last fall. He is a surgeon and urologist trained in England and Scotland.
With the retirement of Dr. FELL, Dr. Hema PATEL and Dr. Bhal PATEL are working together in the same office -- the PATEL
Medical Clinic.
