The windmill which was erected over the well near the Depot Street livery barn some six years ago to pump water to the engine tank at the light plant
was sold last week, taken down and hauled away. The water from the well was pumped through tile to the power plant until the city waterworks were completed.
Zella CAMPBELL has resigned her position in the recorder's office and accepted the position made vacant in the treasurer's offic by the resignation of
the deputy, Leta LAWHEAD who will go to Arispe, where she will teach in the consolidated schools.
G. E. HAMMER came Friday from Union Star, MO., to accept a position in the Burlington station in this city as assistant agent.
H. A. FOSTER has accepted the position made vacant in the SPURRIER Grocery store by the resignation of Walter SUMMERS. Mr. FOSTER has had many years
experience as a clerk as he has managed a store of his own at Caledonia for the past few years.
The Mount Ayr band, popularly called Brool's Famous Concert Band, was re-enforced by three hired musicians Friday evening, Roy SHEESLEY and John HAUSZ of
Tingley, and William RHOADES, of Beaconsfield, and gave one of the best concerts of the season.
Walter SUMMERS, who began behind the counter in the RAINS Grocery some five years ago and who continued as clerk when the business was purchased by S. F.
and E. P. SPURRIER, resigned his position and will go to Quincy, IL., where he will attend the Gem City Business College.
A wedding, in which many Mount Ayr people were interested, took place at the home of Mrs. Mary REGER on September 1, when her daughter, Mary V. REGER,
and Frank C. KIRKHAM were married. The marriage vows were taken and the ring service used by Rev. R. M. SHIPMAN, assisted by Rev. C. M. EDMONDSON, of
Diagonal. After a wedding trip to the exposition in San Francisco, they will be at home in College Springs, where Mr. KIRKHAM is engaged in the hardware
business.
Rev. J. V. WRIGHT and family moved this week from Worth, MO., to the Mary PARKER property which they recently purchased. Rev. WRIGHT will retain his two
charges, one in Gentry, MO., and the other, a country branch at Long Branch near Gentry.
KELLERTON - Ida MOORE came from her home in Diagonal on Saturday and will be employed as "hello girl" at the central office.

KELLERTON - Mr. and Mrs. Dan NEWTON announce the arrival of a fine little son at their home on August 20.
KELLERTON - Mr. and Mrs. Ernest GIBSON are the proud parents of a little son, born to them August 21.
KNOWLTON - Born, August 23, to O. N. PERKINS and wife, a 13 pound boy.
DIAGONAL - Mr. and Mrs. W. D. HERRINGTON are the proud parents of a baby girl, born the 20th.
MALOY - Mr. and Mrs. Michael HANNON, Jr., are the proud parents of a new baby girl, born August 20.
