Mrs. Elva Thompson announces the marriage of her daughter, Phyllis, to Earnest L. Moore, of Des Moines, which took place August 27. They will be at home in Waterloo, where both have employment.

Mrs. Fred Jezek, of Washington township, won second place in the district pie baking contest held October 25, in Corning, with a raisin pie. Mrs. E. E. Black, of Middle Fork township won the right to compete by placing second in the county contest.

Floyd Clouse, of Jefferson township, has retained his title of champion corn husker of Ringgold county by winning the third annual contest. Clouse, one of six contestants, picked a net load of 2,202 pounds in the lotted time of 80 minutes.

O. B. Mack announces that he has leased the Skelly service station, formerly operated by Harry Dulany, at the intersection of Highways 169 and 3 [present day Highway 2].

STUDENT AYR - The Ayrgoers will present a two-act play witten by Bob Maley and Bob Spence, juniors, on October 31. Members of the cast are Ruth Wheelock, Bob McChesney, Jean Prentis, Bob Allyn, Bob Wilson, Loyd Hudson, Andy Bryant and Julie Sheumaker.

BIRTHS:

  • Born, October 24, in the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Snedeker, a son, Donald William. Weight, nine pounds.
  • DELPHOS - Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Austin are the proud parents of a new baby boy, born October 13.
  • MIDDLE FORK - Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Adams are the parents of a son, Ralph Wayne, born October 20.
