The United Presbyterian Churches of Afton and Tingley (working together in the Westminster Co-operative Parish) have extended a call to the Rev. E. C. WILLIAMS of Crawfordsville to become their pastor. His first services in the two churches will be held Sunday, July 10.

Doyle WEEDA of Mount Ayr showed and sold six sheep at the National Corn Belt Show and Sale held June 20 and 21 in Des Moines.

John A LIPPINCOTT, who has served as minister of the local Methodist Church for the past three years, has again been assigned to this field of labor. Only two pastors of nearby communities were reassigned. Herbert E. PHILLIPS was assigned to the Clearfield-Kent church to succeed Howard F. BALL, who was transferred to the Allerton-Clio-Lineville Circuit. Clark BASSETT was appointed minister of the Diagonal-Benton churches as a successor to Robert MARTIN.

Included amont the 16,000 Little Leaguers from five neighboring states who attended a major league game Saturday in Kansas City, MO were 95 from Mount Ayr. In the morning the boys were privileged to attend a baseball clinic conducted by league stars. The afternoon was highlighted by the game played between the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Athletics in the Municipal Stadium and won by the Orioles, 11 to 2.

An 80-acre farm, located north and east of Tingley and owned by Mr. and Mrs. H. C. OVERHOLTZER, was sold Saturday at public auction to E. Claire HENDERSON of Tingley. The consideration was $78.50 per acre of $6,280. The sale was conducted by Dennis OWENS of Tingley and Truman HAMILTON of Leon, auctioneers, and Carl G. RIGGS of Tingley State Savings Bank, clerk.

Gary SCHAD of Shannon City, a member of the Jefferson Home Hustlers 4-H Club in Ringgold county, showed the champion Jersey heifer at the 4-H and F.F.A. Diary Show held Saturday in Creston. Lyle FARIS and Galen WILSON were among the 10 exhibitors selected as blue ribbon showmen.

Hank SMITH of Mount Ayr copped first place in the feature race at the jalopy races held Wednesday night of last week on the local track. He also won the time trial at 19.5.

Lloyd GOINS of Diagonal, a past commander of the Creston V.F.W. Post, was elected senior vice-commander of the Iowa Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars during the annual state convention of that organization held Sunday in Burlington.
