Lloyd ANGUS of Poe township was re-elected president of the Ringgold County Farm Bureau during the annual meeting held Wednesday night of last week. Other officers re-elected are Leo MORGAN, Monroe township, vice-president; Duane TRIGGS, Liberty township, secretary; L.H. GRAY, Poe township, treasurer; Ansel SAVILLE, Clinton township, voting delegate. The Farm Bureau Women elected the following as officers: Mrs. Lyman WALKER, Monroe township, chairman; Mrs. Earl STANLEY, Athens township, vice-chairman; and Mrs. Cecil SICKELS, Liberty township, publicity chairman.

Selected as winners of an essay contest for teen aged Republican of Ringgold County are Jim ETHINGTON and Merelene STANLEY of Kellerton, Curtis LININGER of Shannon City and Katheryn WURSTER of Tingley.

Two residents of Ringgold County received recognition in the latest issue of "Lyrical Iowa." They are Mrs. Frances SOBOTKA of Diagonal, whose entry received the third place award, and Mrs. Maurice BARTLETT (Ruth WHEELCOCK) of Tucson, AZ, formerly of this vicinity, and most recently of Sioux City, and Marion ANDERSON of Mount Ayr, the contributions of whom were acknowledged favorably.

  • October 14, a daughter, Anna Marie, to Mr. and Mrs. Hugh MILLER, Fry Chapel
  • October 15, a son to Mr. and Mrs. James PAYTON, Kellerton

    BIRTHS REPORTED FROM RINGGOLD COUNTY HOSPITAL:

  • A son to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Addison LUPHER
  • A daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Edward KNIGHT
