Fourteen delegates from Ringgold county attended the state Republican convention held in Des Moines. Representataives were: Mr. and Mrs. Dick BARNES, Lamoni; Lucille LIEBIG, Mrs. Arlene HANSON and Sandra and Robert CREW, Diagonal; Esse FREED, Redding; Mrs. Althea FLOHRA and Mrs. Violet GROSE, Ellston; Mrs. Dorcie HILL, Benton; and Charles LESAN, O. DIXON, X. T. PRENTIS and Alvin VARNER, Mount Ayr.

Two young men from Ringgold county went Monday morning to Des Moines as volunteers in response to Induction Call No. 51. They were Billy MOORE, son of Bill MOORE of Diagonal, and Melvin J. CAMPBELL, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe CAMPBELL of Benton.

Charles MILLER and William GREENE announce that Ellston Produce will close as of Aug. 1.

BIRTHS REPORTED FROM RINGGOLD COUNTY HOSPITAL:

  • July 24, a daughter, Beverly Sue, to Mr. and Mrs. Chester WALLACE, Benton
  • July 26, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Elbert HALEY, Benton
  • July 26, a daughter, Carol Ann, to Mr. and Mrs. Frederick TAYLOR, Beford
