Fire of unknown orgin practically destroyed the Logan Hotel early yesterday morning. Mr. Logan was unable to estimate the loss, but it will far exceed the $3,600 insurance carried the building and contents.
Mr. Logan will probably rebuild and as a result of the fire, it is likely Mount Ayr will have a new modern hotel.
W. L. Campbell, the popular mail carrier on Route 4 out of the post office, has changed routes with Frank P. Allen, who has Route 3 out of Leon and he went the first of the month to that place to go to work..
C. Raye Moore has just issued his corn book for 19167. He has the old Robbins garage fitted up for his new uptown seed house and is shipping out seed and oats to customers' every day.
Word has been received by relatives in Mount Ayr of the marriage of Elva Grace Thompson to Ernest Otto Phillippe at Valley City, ND., on February 19. The bride, the daughter of B. H. Thompson of this city,
went to North Dakota about three years ago, where she has been successful in her work as a school teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Phillippe will make their home on a farm north of Wimbleton, ND.
Dakota Corll, who had been employed at the county farm for some time, has resigned and returned to her home in Kellerton.
BIRTHS:
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Reynolds are the parents of a baby daughter, born to them February 24.
REDDING - Mr. and Mrs. Owen Griffith are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl, which came to their home on February 29.
REDDING - Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Arneal are the proude parents of a baby boy, born February 24.
Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Fry are the parents of a daughter, born February 29.
