A Tingley man has been named to the 1988 edition of Outstanding Young Men of America. Dr. Aaron WILKEY of Tingley
will be included in the 1988 publication.
When the bands march by the television cameras and down the parade route in the annual Cotton Bowl Parade Monday, nine
Ringgold county youth will be part of the performance. Out front leading the Southwest Iowa Honor Marching Band will be
Mount Ayr Community high school drum major Andrea MEKUS, who will be one of two majors leading the marching band. Participating
in the flag corps will be MACHS band member Nicole LANDPHAIR. The rest of the participants will be in the band itself.
Heather CLARK of Diagonal, who plays the flute, will be joined by Mount Ayr Community high school band members Kelli
MASON and Jeremy CULBERTSON on tenor saxophones; Bryan SCHAFER and Shonn MAPES on tubas; Ron SCHAFER on trombone
and Ryan SMITH, snare drums.
National 4-H Safety program winner, Bobbi Jo HUNT of Diagonal, was congratulated on receiving a $1,000 scholarship as
well as the expense-paid trip to the 4-H Congress in Chicago recently.
