In respect to the memory of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated November 22, in Dallas, TX, the schools and public placed in Ringgold County were closed Monday.

The Sunmobile, a model car powered by sunlight, was one of the features of General Motors' exciting science show, "Previews of Progress," which was presented November 18, at the Mount Ayr Community high school.

The Wert MUNYON farm of 120 acres in Riley township was sold last week to Mr. and Mrs. Carroll ADAMS of Perry. The transaction was made through the Carl G. Riggs Land Auction Company of Tingley.

State aid has been issued to the three schools of Ringgold county in a total amount of $65,005,31. The amount of transportation aid issued to each schools is as follows: Diagonal Community, $3,275.43; Grand Valley Community, $4,904.07; and Mount Ayr Community, $15,693.40.

A car-train collision Friday afternoon in Mount Ayr claimed the lives of two occupants of the car and injured another. Dead are Tilton Pearl STROUD, 81, and his grandson, Robert Dan STROUD, 22, driver of the car, both of Martensdale. Injured in the accident was another grandson of the elder Mr. STROUD, David STRABLE, of Saint Joseph, MO, who is a patient in the Ringgold County Hospital convalescing from surgery, a broken foot and numerous cuts and bruises. The deaths of the two men brought the year's total of traffic fatalities in Ringgold county to five since May.

Proceeds from the God's Portion Sale, sponsored by the local Methodist Men, and held Monday night at the Mount Ayr Livestock Market, amounted to approximately $1,100. Bidding was brisk and it was reported that one cake sold for $65. Roy LEPLEY, president of Methodist Men, thanked all those who, by their contributions and attendance, helped make the sale a success.
