Charges of burglary, theft and
criminal mischief were made against 11 juveniles and one adult after an incident at the Mount Ayr water treatment plant
at the old city reservoir north of Mount Ayr.
Blake HAUGLAND landed two national titles in one day at Jamaica. HAUGLAND
raced two different cars in two race classes. HAUGLAND goes 80 plus miles-per-hour when he races on pavement.
A long time
correspondent for the Mount Ayr Record-News has died. Blockton correspondent Geraldine WEAVER, 90, died Sunday at
Clearview Home in Clearfield. WEAVER had written the Blockton news for the Mount Ayr Record-News and other newspapers
for many years.
Five homes at Sun Valley lake were on display Sunday during the annual Sun Valley lake home tour.
Visitors were taken on a tour of the lake and the five homes by pontoon boat on a warm and sunny afternoon. Stops on
the tour included the homes of Dave and Debbie BURGRAFF, Jim and Glenda JOBE, Gary and Marcia ALMQUIST, Robert and
Diana BODNAR and Mike and Jennifer GEIS.
Toriann and Alexi ERICKSON, daughters of Brenda and Mark ERICKSON of New
Virginia, attended the USTA Tumbling and Trampoline competition at Louisville, KY June 22-23. Toriann placed 24th
out of 54 girls for five-year-olds in the beginners division in the nation. Alexi rated sixth out of 45 for nine-year-olds
in the beginners division in the nation. Toriann and Alexi are granddaughters of Shirley and Bob ERICKSON of Mount Ayr
and Donna ISAACSON of Chariton.
Dennis ELLIOTT of Mount Ayr wonthe feature modified race at the U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn,
MO Friday night. ELLIOTT won his head race in the second heat and then won the 20-lap feature event.
