RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, July 28, 1966

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

Announcement was made this week for the sale of the Lucky Lanes bowling alley in Mount Ayr. Donald Dailey, owner of the Mount Ayr Furniture Store, has purchased the business from Albert and Mary Bagley, who have operated the four-lane alley for the past five years.

Larry Brown, acting director of the Ringgold County Department of Social Welfare, has registered for a welfare directors' workshop at the University of Iowa July 25-29.

One hundred nineteen horses and riders, 13 of which were from Mount Ayr, participated in the grand entry of the saddle club horse show held Saturday night in New Hampton, MO. Local winners are Daley, Dailey, Bishop, Reynolds.

"Farmer in the Dell" was the theme of the Redding Federated Garden Club's second annual flower show held July 20, in the Legion Hall in Redding. Mrs. George Staats and Mrs. Bertha Olney served as co-chairmen of the show, which attracted 126 entries.

They may never ride on elephants or go tiger hunting, but members of the Mount Ayr junior high combo will bear the name of Indian royalty. The Rajahs was the winning entry submitted by Jim Mahan Jr. in a name contest held on July 16.
