A flag ws flown over the U.S. Capitol especially for Ringgold county resident Ken MORROW was shared with residents of the Maple Ridge Assisted Living facility in Mount Ayr recently. U.S. Representative Leonad BOSWELL made special arrangements to have the flag flown for MORROW on Friday, August 8. A certificate accompanying the flag recognizes MORROW for his dedicated service to citizens around the state.

Crystal STORHOFF of Mount Ayr will be honored as a Famous Poet for 2003 and be presented with the Shakespeare Trophy of Excellence during a special ceremony at the Ninth Annual Poetry Convention in Orlando, FL, August 30, 2003 at 3 p.m. Crystal entered a contest lst March sponsored by the Famous Poets Society. Crystal's poem, entitled "My Secret Love," was selected to advance in the contest.

The owners of Glendenning Motor Company of Mount Ayr were recipients of a golden award of distinction from the Iowa Auto Dealer's Association at a special awards meeting held at the Marriott Hotel in Des Moines in May. The award was presented to Lloyd GLENDENNING and his sons, Paul and Todd. The award marks 50 years of outstanding and meritorious service by the GLENDENNINGS.
