The Mount Ayr Raiders, trailing most of the first two quarters, stormed back in the second half to subdue the strong Bedford Bulldogs, 51045, to win the
boys sectional basketball tournament Saturday night in Mount Ayr.The rambling Mount Ayr Raiders made the Red Oak Tigers their 22nd victim, 50-47, in the
first round of the district tournament at Creston Monday night.
Mrs. Hazel BEAMER, formerly of Tingley, who resides in Laura, IL, was seriously injured in a car accident which happened Monday evening near Laura. The
car driven by Mrs. BEAMER skidded in the mud and hit a tree. She suffered five fractured ribs, a fractured pelvis and internal injuries and is in a critical
condition in the Saint Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL.
Bob SKINNER of Ames has been named secretary-treasurer of the Iowa Seed Dealers' Association to succeed Mark G. Thornburg, who recently retired. The son of
Mr. and Mrs. Glen SKINNER of this city, he graduated from Iowa State College [present-day Iowa State University] in 1949 with a major in animal husbandry.
After teaching vocational agriculture at Sac City for two years, he returned to Iowa State College as an instructor in the animal husbandry department. He
received a master of science degree in meats and nutrition in 1954.

A daughter, Rebecca Rae, born Feb. 22, to Mr. and Mrs. Roger MORRISON, Mount Ayr.
