The Cotton Bowl festivities in Dallas, TX will have specialsignificance for a number of Mount Ayr Community high school students and their families. Ther 250-member Southwest Iowa Honor Marching Band
will be one of the bands participating in the parade in Dallas New Year's Day morning, and almost one tenth of the members of that band are from Mount Ayr Community high school.
The water tower near the Highway 2 and 169 intersection was built and is already showing its dominance on the skyline.
Progress is being made on the development of the Marlin Fogle Recreation Area north of Diagonal. An anonymous donation of $2,000 toward the project was recently received.
Members of the Diagonal Lions Club and the Diagonal Fire Department voted to make the site of the present fire department and Lions Club community building available to Schlapia, Inc. for
use in building the new Texaco Food Mart on main street in Diagonal.
