Denny McCOY of Nodaway and Nancy COSAND of Westboro, MO won the titles of all-around boy and girl at the finals of the state Little Britches Rodeo held Friday night at the fairgrounds in Mount Ayr. The rodeo was held two nights during the Ringgold County Fair but the finals were postponed on account of rain until Friday night. Nancy COSAND was also named queen of the rodeo. Her attendants were Kay McCOY of Nodaway, Patty HAYES of Creston and Martha LAMB of Mount Ayr.

Eight 4-H boys and girls will represent Ringgold county in the 4-H demonstration contests at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. Mary Ann HERREN and Mary Sue BASTOW, members of the Liberty Belles 4-H Club, will present their project demonstration "It Will See Good, Like a Sewing Machine Should." Representatives in the special activity demonstration contest will be Lucille FARIS and Kathryn McCREARY of the Gay Farmerettes, who will present their demonstration, "Undrape Your Shape." Bob ALLEN and Bob REASONER, members of the Tingley Toppers Club, demonstrated "The Key to Swine Profits," and Gary MYERS and Lyle FARIS, of the Junior Farmers, won with their demonstration, "Less Flies -- More Profit."

Erection of the new 50,000-gallon water storage tank, a new landmark at Kellerton, was completed last week by the contractor, the Pittsburge-Des Moines Steel Company. The tank, in the form of a sphere, reaches skyward to a height of 112 feet, and the catwalk is 90 feet above the ground. Mains and service lines were installed by Rex SHAHA.

A two-day celebration in observance of the completion of the paving of Main Street in Diagonal will be held Monday, August 31, and Tuesday, Sept. 1. The event is sponsored by the Diagonal Lions Club. The pavement will be officially opened to traffic Monday afternoon.
