Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Margaret Buck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Buck, of Mount Ayr, passed the state bar examination and received her certificate from the Iowa Supreme Court on Tuesday. Miss Buck is employed by the state department of social welfare in Des Moines.

W. F. Hutchinson, local manager of the Iowa Southern Utilities Company, has been elected chairman of the Ringgold county chapter of the American Red Cross. Other officers are John A. Beard, vice-chairman, and Mrs. George Irving, secretary-treasurer. Members of the board of directors are Bob Judson, Ava A . Huggins, Vera F. Dickens, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, Roy Lepley, Cleta Swigart, James Mahan, Alvin Lamoreaux, J. M. Anderson, Mr. Beard and Mrs. Cecil Beamer.

Ora Harsh has resigned his position as town marshal and Earl J. Humphreys has been appointed to fill the vacancy.

Jack Elliott was installed as the new president of the Mount Ayr Lions Club during the regular meeting held last evening. Other officers installed are Jim Burge, first vice-president; Bill Harover, second vice-president; C. Arthur Hansen, third vice-president; Jim Smith, tail twister; Verdon Payne, lion tamer; Royce Davis, secretary-treasurer; Dr. George Lee, Dr. Herman Hausheer, the Rev. Harold Reel and M. A. Rubek, board of directors.

With the contracting of Jack J. Howe as junior high instructor and coach, the staff of the Mount Ayr schools for the 1956-57 term has been completed.

REDDING - Darlene Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Efton Hall, recently attended Hawkeye Girls State at Cear Falls, which is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
