A number of major moves in the retail business sector for Mount Ayr have been made this summer. One automobile dealer has
bought out another and Pamida will be the only pharmacy serving Mount Ayr residents once consolidations are finished.
Ringgold Abstract will be moving to 107 E. Adams Street in Mount Ayr, the Alliant Energy building. The business has been
located in the building just east of city hall for several years.
Randy GREGG has announced that his Edward Jones office has relocated to Mount Ayr effective Monday, July 16.
The office is located east of the Highway 2 and 169 junction on the north side of the road. GREGG had been working out
of an office in Osceola.
A change in the administration of Firstar Bank in Mount Ayr was also underway this week. Gene POPPE, who has been in charge of
the bank here for 17 years, is leaving to head a bank in West Plains, MO, a community of 11,000 in far southern Missouri.
A team from the Mount Ayr Community FFA chapter received a gold medal and placed 10th in the 2001 Iowa FFA Horiculture
career development event. Members of the team were Michelle DUGAN, Andrea LARSEN and Mekenze BISHOP.
David HOSFIELD, who
graduated in May, returned recently from a nine-day trip to Spain and France as part of a high school team from
across the United States participating in track meets in the two countries. He is the son of Doug and Wanda HOSFIELD
of Mount Ayr.
