Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

Men, who will enter army service under the Selective Service System, will be inducted the same day they are given the army physical examination.

Asa W. Huggins has been appointed explosive licensing agent for Ringold County by the Department of Interior, Bureau of Mines, Explosives Control Division.

George Burnside has been appointed tire inspector for Ringgold county by Rationing Board No. 80, to succeed Harold Davis who tendered his resignation.

Elaine McGrath has received a Civil Service appointment and will serve as stenographer for the rationing board.

Eleanore L. Campbell, eldest daughter of Mr. and Floyd Campbell, of Mount Ayr, and Delmar G. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Miller, of Diagonal, were united in marriage February 14, in the M.E. Parsonage in Grant City, MO. The single-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Hubert Wubben. Mr. Miller has been engaged in farming near Diagonal, where Mrs. Miller awaits the return of her husband from the U.S. Army.

Irene Kennedy, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Kennedy, of Mount Ayr, and Lyle Hogue, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hogue, of Kellerton, were united in marriage February 18, in the Methodist parsonage in Grant City, MO. Mrs. Hogue will remain with her parents while Mr. Hogue is serving with the U.S. Army.

BIRTHS:

  • Born to Mr. and Mrs. Darold Blauer, of Tingley township, February 23, a son, Larry David. Weight, eight pounds, four and one-half ounces.
