Clean up efforts continued this week following the tornado which roared through Ringgold county April 11. Several groups
have spent time helping with the efforts. Mount Ayr Community junior high students were working in a field north of
Highway 2 Thursday afternoon helping pick up debris that had been blown there from the damage done to buildings east of
Mount Ayr along Highway 2.
Project HOPE is a confidential victim services program developed to assist victims of domestic violence in Ringgold
county. Dianna PETERS serves as the coordinator of Project HOPE.
Ringgold County Hospital celebrated its 50th anniversary last week with a past and present employee potluck and open
house. The hospital opened its doors April 17, 1951. On hand was the last of the original employees of the hospital,
Savilla EDDY.
A Mount Ayr Community high school Raider track team has qualified for the Drake Relays. Members of the team included Brad
WILSON, Nick GROSE, Reggie LESAN and David HOSFIELD.
Five Mount Ayr Community high school students placed in contests at the state Technology Students of America competition
in Des Moines. Two students placed in the transportation design contest with Burt MURPHY taking second and Tanner
RINEHART taking third. In the structural engineering competition (truss design) the team of Joe WASKE and Chris LARSEN
placed third. In the research and design contest (dragster design), Brad WILSON placed third.
Ron LANDPHAIR and Scott GILES are sponsors for the local TSA chapter.
A Mount Ayr city employee was injured in a work accident in Mount Ayr Thursday. Marty SCHNOOR received chest injuries in
an accident with a backhoe and was taken by LifeFlight to Des Moines.
