The new Bryant Roller Rink, located just south of Mount Ayr on Highway 3, is now open for business. Skaters have been using the floor since last Saturday night, when more than 250 tickets were sold, but the building
was not officially opened until last night.
Jane Timby, who for the past three years has been employed by the Bankers Life Company in Des Moines, left September 13 for New York City, where she will be employed by the same company.
Ellen Wilson and Margaret Daughton have been notified that they had successfully passed their Civil Service examinations and they will leave within the week for Washington, D.C., where they will be employed. Both are
graduates of the Mount Ayr High School with the class of 1940.
Richard Prentis left Saturday for Washington, D.C., where he was accepted a position under the Civil Service Commission.
Among the gifts received Wedesday by Billie Kelley on his fourth birthday anniversary, the most important to him was a pony from his parents.
In a double wedding ceremony, which took place September 14, at the home of Ephriam Brown in Independence, MO., Mrs. Eliza Shields of Tingley, and Edwin Lane of Diagonal, and her son. Russell and Eleanor Weeda of
Tingley, were united in marriage. [?] The single-ring ceremonies were read by Elder Brown.
STUDENT AYR - At the first meeting of the Girls' Athletic Association, Jerry Butler was elected president; Charlotte Williams, vice-president; and Betty Butler, secretary-treasurer.
BIRTHS:
DELPHOS - Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mendenhall have received word of the birth of a daughter, Linda Lee, to their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alf Craft of Oakdale, CA.
