Members of the Mount Ayr American Legion and Auxiliary passed out coloring books to first graders in Mrs. Marie STILL'S room last week during American
Education Week. Coloring books and flag etiquette books were passed out to students from first through sixth grade.
Stacey HAMILTON, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Garry HAMILTON of Maloy, received the Daughters of the American Revolution good citizenship award for the 1982-83
school year. It was the only presentation in Ringgold county this year. The award is based on qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Mrs. Lois HUNT of Diagonal received the Elanco CowGal Award as the outstanding CowBelle member at the annual meeting of the county group at the American
Legion Building in Mount Ayr November 15.
FFA NEWS - Eight members of the Mount Ayr Community Future Farmers of America chapter attended the national FFA convention in Kansas City, MO recently. Attending the
convention were Kenny DAVENPORT, Ryan RICHIE, Roger HINTZ, Rod DAVISON, Mike McGEHEE, Paul GLENDENNING, Kevin WINEMILLER, Brian WIMER and advisor Jack COOK.
Winning second out of 27 teams at the district Future Farmers of America soil judging contest last month was a team from the Mount Ayr Community high school.
The team went on to place 17th at the state soil judging meet in Ames. Team members included Peter HAYSE, Craig WILLIS, Kelly JAMES, Paul TULL and Bruce QUICK.
