For the third time in as many years, Dawn HUFF has brought home a placing in the long jump at the state girls track
meet. THis time it was the gold for first place and in Class 2A instead of the smaller Class 1A competition when she took third
as a sophomore and sixth as a freshman. During the course of the year she improved her long jump almost a foot to the
new personal best which won the meet of 18' 6 1/4" Friday afternoon. HUFF also placed third in the 100 meter hurdles
and sixth in the high jump to scoreall 13 of the Raiderette points in the meet, giving the girls a 14th place. HUFF is the

Mount Ayr Community high school girls golf team came as close as they could to going to the state golf tournament without
getting there in district golf action Tuesday. Andrea MEKUS was runner-up medalist to Stuart Menlo's Teresa Kane on Kane's
home course, with a 90 to Kane's 85. Only the top girls medalist continues on, however, and MEEKUS ended her high school
career with most of the Raiderette records.
Grand Valley Community high school juniors and seniors shared in a night of "Oriental Ecstasy" at their senior prom
recently and then went to "Las Vegas" for after-prom activities, the first time that these activities have been
sponsored for Grand Valley students.
