DIAGONAL - Uncle Peter Johnson, who has had charge of the janitor work at the schoolhouse for the past two years, resigned his position last Monday on account of poor health. Glen Overholser, who has been working for J. W. Ostrander, has accepted the position of janitor and took up the work at once.

KNOWLTON - The wrestling match between Richard Gaule and Clyde Ingraham Saturday night was well attended. Mr. Ingraham was not in practice, this being his first match for more than two years. Mr. Gaule had the advantage in weight, being about 18 pounds heavier then Mr. Ingraham. Mr. Gaule was the winner, getting two falls and Mr. Ingraham one. John Walter of Benton was the referee.

John L. Mills, publisher of The Journal has been elected the the position of chairman of the democratic county central committee to succeed J. A. McNerney, who recently received the appointment as postmaster at Mount Ayr. Mr. Mills is also secretary of the committee and G. A. Wyant is treasurer.

REDDING - The school board received a new piano Tuesday and it was taken to the new schoolhouse. The box supper Saturday night is to help pay for it.

BIRTHS:

  • Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Whited are the proud parents of a seven-poung, eight-ounce boy.
  • MIDDLEFORK - Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Saville are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl, that come to gladden their home on January 10.
  • DELPHOS - Born, to Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Stedman, January 20, a son.
