RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, August 25 & 28, 1914

Kasey Dredge, Mount Ayr Record-News

For the first time an exhibit of the work done by the pupils of the rural schools of Ringgold County is being made at the Iowa State Fair at Des Moines. Mrs. W. R. SHROYER went yesterday to Des Moines to have charge of the exhibits and assist in arranging the display, which includes corn husk work, work in straw, modeling in clay, sewing, drawing, water color painting, etc. County Superintendent Etta J. RIDER expects to go to Des Moines on Thursday for the fair and to assist with the exhibit.

KELLERTON -- The Ringgold County Savings Bank, which has been operating with a stock if $10,000, will on the first of October, raise its capital to $25,000, which will make this bank one of the strongest in the county. G. E. TURNER has acted in the capacity of cashier since 1908, and C. A. MANNASMITH was recently appointed assistant cashier.

WHITSON and SIPLE, who recently bought a general store at Tingley, have disposed of their meat market here. Chas. MOORE has purchased the shop.

CLEARFIELD -- Thomas HEMPHILL came last week to take up his work in the Bentley Drug Store as a pharmacist.

The Clearfield baseball team played ball at Tingley on the first day of the street fair and ball tournament and were defeated by a score of eight to five. Clearfield did very well considering they played all home men, while Tingley had three hired players. Playing for Clearfield were Norton STEPHENSON, Roger MULLIN, Willie ROAD, Wes PAYNE, Leo WILSON, Raymer STEPHENSON, James MULLIN, Bert HUTTON, Jesse McKELVEY and Fred CREW.
