Using the talent she has for making stuffed animals and dolls, Lena SAVILLE (Mrs. Cecil) of Mount Ayr has provided the Ringgold County Hospital wil 1,200 stuffed toys through her 16 years of this kind of gift-giving. When Mrs. SAVILLE was a Ringgold County Hospital Auxiliary president 16 years ago, she became award of the needs of children who came into the hospital. "They yearned for some kind of soft toy that would make them feel secure and comfortable." Lena began work to satisfy those needs.

Marvin WOOLLUMS of the Mount Ayr Iowa Southern Utilities office was honored for 30 years of service to the company during a Western District employees awards dinner held at Berning Cafe in Creston Tuesday night, Oct. 18. WOOLLUMS joined the company in March 1958 as an apprentice lineman. He has been a lineman first foreman since October 1985.

Gary WURSTER of Tingley has been recognized by the American Polled Hereford Association as the owner of a Polled Hereford cow that has received the Benchmark Dam award.

Katy the Kangaroo hopped into the Mount Ayr Community elementary school Tuesday to help pharmacist Steve MITCHELL of Mount Ayr help second graders learn about the right way to take medicine when they are ill. Katy helped teach the youngsters, who also saw a slide presentation helping them learn about safe use of medicine.
