John WARIN was re-elected president of the Ringgold County Fair Association at a meeting held Monday afternoon in the courthouse assembly room. Other officers elected were Bill TIMBY, vice-president and Stuart HOOVER, secretary-treasurer.

The Rev. Gene CHERRY has tendered his resignation as pastor of the Kellerton Christian Church to accept a call to the First Christian Church at Rockport, MO. Rev. CHERRY and his family will move this week to Rockport. During his year's pastorate at Kellerton, the church received 20 new members, 13 of whom were by baptism.

Funeral services for Peter C. MOFFETT of Lamoni were held Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 22. Mr. MOFFETT was instantly killed Saturday afternoon about 2:30 p.m. as he was struck by a car while crossing the road in front of the Earl ANDERSON farm, one and one-half miles south of Lamoni. He was 87 years of age.

On Veteran's Day, 40 men gathered at the home of Hilding SHUM and built 200 rods of fence and pickup up corn from the ground for Mr. SHUM, who recently suffered a fractured leg while operationg a posthole digger. Those who brough tractors and diggers were Aster and Gardner NELSON, Dick MOREY and Richard LARSEN and tractors and wagons were provided by Harry LANE, Olin DAVIS and Jim FABRICIOUS.

Other men who assisted were Wayne HAIDSIAK, Harry BLACK, Lyndon NICHOLS, John COMBS, LaVern BLACK, George HOFMISTER, Denzel MOBLEY, Rue NICKLE, Dick BAILEY, Rex SHAHA, Leo SALTZMAN, Arthur DIEBERT, Arthur PRITCHARD, Carroll SMITH, Kermit MILLER, Lawrence KIMBALL, Gerald ZOLLER, Otis CARSON, Stephen SMITH, Leslie AYERS, Howard SMITH, Carl BLACK, Harold BLACK, Dale BLACK, Elzra FETTY, LeRoy BUCY, Albert BAGLEY, Curt LANDIS, Glint LANDIS, Clyde LANDIS, Charles GOODALE, Ted PERLENFEIN and Elmo ROE.

Twenty women provided food and served the dinner.

  • November 21, a daughter, Lynnette Joy, to Mr. and Mrs. James COOK, Kellerton
  • November 22, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. A. H. CHRISTENSEN Jr., Mount Ayr
