Three Mount Ayr Community high school graduates will be taking part in the Down Under Bowl in Australia beginning later
this week. They include Jared ARMSTRONG, David CAMPBELL and Chris WHITSON.
Jim TULL of Redding took third place in the second heat and won the A feature race in the hobby stock race. This is
TULL's first win of the season.
Mount Ayr Community's Raiders lengthened their winning streak to nine games with four more victories this week.
Steve TAYLOR of Mount Ayr was inducted into the Iowa High School Rodeo Association Hall of Fame over the weekend on June
20 at Fort Madison during the high school rodeo state finals. TAYLOR served on the National Board of Directors of High
School Rodeo, representing Iowa during the years of 1987-1994. During that time, his daughters qualified for the
National Finals in Pueblo, CO, Shawnee, OK and Gillette, WY. Since that time, TAYLOR has served as a rodeo judge for
many high school rodeos.
A former Diagonal resident was rencently inducted into the Iowa Weslyan College athletic hall of fame at the alumni
banquet held at the university recently. Dixie RAMSBOTTOM SCHREFF is part of the inaugural group of inductees to the
hall of fame.
