The future of the Miracle Recreation Co. plant in Mount Ayr is less certain this week. An official statement was not
available from company representatives at headquarters in Grinnell by Tuesday afternoon but it was confirmed that the
company, which owns the manufacturing plant here, is up for sale. Work is continuing on current orders at the Mount Ayr
facility this week. Recreational equipment for play areas in McDonald's restaurants and interiors for restaurants
are manufactured by the company in Mount Ayr.
Brick streets around the square would remain but asphalt would be placed over the bricks on streets leading into the
square and on streets in the Sheldon Heights area under a preliminary plan approved by the Mount Ayr city council Monday
night.
Tracy STEPHENS, daughter of Don and Julia STEPHENS of Redding, is the new chaplain of the Iowa American Legion Junior
Auxiliary. She was elected at an Iowa Junior Legion Auxiliary convention held at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown
June 28.
Almost 400 honored 31 years in osteopathy of Dr. Roy E. FELL and 39 years in dental practice of Dr. Charles W. LAWHEAD
at a retirement party July 20 at the Mount Ayr American Legion hall.
Among top placers in the 4-H communications projects judged last week were Scott JOHNSTON, Karla WINN, Todd
DERSCHEID, Mindy CARSON, Billi HUNT, Emily McALEXANDER, Bobbi HUNT and Elsa McALEXANDER.
