The original one-room schoolhouse in Lesanville that was built by George W. Lesan, Levi Terwilliger and other neighbors in 1873 has been moved to the Ramsey Farm at Lesanville.
Becky Baker of Redding received anoutstanding program participant trophy and crown and a state finalist trophy when she took part in the National American's Miss contest held at the downtown Des Moines Marriott
Hotel in Des Moines.
New faces at the Diagonal Community school are Lindsay Stoaks, Trisha Calvin, Tami Martin, Gabriel Cooper and Jeremy Peterson.
Travelers along Highway 34 between Creston and Thayer in Union county will find a new test project underway on the highway. Rumble strips, which have proven effective in reducing motor vehicle crashes by alerting
drivers when their vehicles are about to run off the road, will be in an unfamiliar place, the center line.
Mildred Rinehart reached 100 years old and was honored by the Iowa Department of Aging with a certificate at a ceremony this week.
