Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

A highway safety institution, known as the Ringgold County Safety Council, was organized last week. Officers elected are: J. M. ANDERSON, president; Mrs. H. B. ELLIS, vice-president; and, Carson WILLIAMS, secretary. X. T. PRENTIS was named director from Mount Ayr, and officers will select directors in other towns of the county. The purpose of the organization is to promote highway safety.

ELLSTON - Forrest ROBISON has his new blacksmith shop completed in north Ellston and is now ready to do blacksmith work.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. RINABERGER, C.B.& Q. depot agent, moved Friday to Humeston, and Depot Agent H. C. PECK was transferred here from Diagonal.

BLOCKTON - Commencement exercises were held Wednesday afternoon for the following eighth grade graduates: Gwendolyn DOWLIN, Harold HARVEY, Paul Gene LANTZ, Luceal LINK, Jimmy SEVERNS, Wayne SIMMONS, Norma Jean STEPHENSON, Mildred STEWART and Duane WEAVER.

KELLERTON - The Supply Store has quit business here and will move their stock which they have left to other stores.

FRY CHAPEL - The Mesdames Jennie FUNHOUSER, Maggie ARMSTRONG, Bernice TURNER and Gern MILLER, who are members of the Rural Women's Chorus, sang in the contest held Saturday in Red Oak.

HATFIELD - Graduates of the Hatfield High School are: Wanda HEYLE, Dixie DONELSON, Nadine FLETCHALL, Betty SANDERS, Billy BURCHETT, John MOORE, Max WARDEN, Doyle MILLER, James BENSON and Leland HALEY.

BIRTHS

  • Dr. and Mrs. Alvin ABARR are the proud parents of a daughter, Elizabeth Ann, born May 16. Mrs. ABARR is the former Leota JACKSON.
