A former Mount Ayr resident recorded her first CD of music - "Finally." For more than 30 years, Rini TWAIT of Longmont, CO (formerly Marine ROGERS, a 1964 graduate of Mount Ayr Community High School) dreamed of doing a recording, but other needs were always more pressing and costs were prohibitive. The album is a 12-track CD featuring Rini's rich and diverse vocals. They cover jazz, folk and popular music as well as three tunes "September Snow," "Love on Love" and "Empty Beaches" written by Michael Bellmont of Longmont, CO.

Diagonal girls volleyball team had a combination 3.7 grade point average and received the Distinguished Academic Award from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.
