Students will see five new faces among the faculty when classes open for the new school year Monday, August 17.
Rick MOORE will be the new senior high marching, concert and jazz band director and in addition will give lessons.
Teaching American history and junior high social studies as well as helping with junior high football and boys track
and high school boys basketball will be Delwyn SHOWALTER of Mount Pleasant. Kristine PETERS will be the new sixth grade
teacher. In the self-contained elementary special education classroom will be Valle SMITH. Martha LANDPHAIR, who has
previously been employed by the district, will be the new K-4 vocal instructor and in addition will help with office
work.
A local group interested in family physician recruitment will meet this weekend, with about 65 new physicians seeking
locations to establish medical practices. Representatives of Ringgold county will include Dr. Roy FELL, hospital
administrator Mary Sue FOUNTAIN and members of the Ringgold County Physician Recruitment Committee.
The Mount Ayr First Baptist choir will appear on television Sunday, Aug. 26, on Channel 8 - KCCI. Taping is being done
on Thursday, August 23, at the studio in Des Moines. The 22-voice choir is directed by Doug GREENE who also serves as
pianist. Narrator is Nancy SACKETT. Members include Pastor Paul CARTER and Judy CARTER, Charlene, Doug and David
GREENE, Terry and Tracy PRATT, Mary, Keith and Melanie TRULLINGER, Margaret, Corey and Christy BICKERS, Debbie WILSON,
Beth CHRISTNER, Mike O'MALIA, Iona TRIGGS, Melonie KNAPP, Maralyn SCHLAPIA, Becky McDOWELL, Meredith DREDGE and Robin
JONES.
Dean JOHNSON, 57-year-old Tingley propane dealer and former gas station owner and farmer, died Tuesday morning after
being admitted Monday night.
Ron LANDPHAIR is in the Ringgold County Hospital suffering from a broken right arm and vertebrae sustaned in a fall
20 feel from a scaffold.
Lamoni National Bank of Lamoni opened its Kellerton branch office recently in the former laundromat building and will
continue its operations while the building there is remodeled. Heading up the Kellerton branch will be Lamoni National
Bank vice-president Bud TICE. Donna PAYTON has been named office manager.
Barb POTTORFF of rural Lamoni, Ringgold County Beef Queen, was crowned District 18 Beef Princess in a contest held in
Creston earlier this month. Barb is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim POTTORFF.
