Hoover & Stephens (Stuart W. HOOVER and Lloyd STEPHENS, Jr.), breeders of purebred Hereford cattle on the HOOVER
homestead near Delphos, recently purchased a draft of 28 head of heifers from Kimberling Bros., long-established
Hereford firm of Champion, NE.
Ringgold county representatives at the first annual meeting of the National Farmers Organization, held Thursday at
Corning, included John D. WARIN, Ralph LONG, John THOMAS, Roy COOPER and George LANCASTER. Nearly 1,000 farmers from six
midwest states were in attendance in the town where the organization was founded last fall. Representatives from Iowa
include 140 delegtes from 54 counties.
R. E. HAUPTMANN, vocational agriculture instructor of the Mount Ayr high school and vice-president of the Iowa Vocational
Agriculture Teachers Association, has been designated editor of a newsletter, which will be received by all vocational
agriculture instructors in the state. Mr. HAUPTMANN attended an executive meeting of the Iowa Vocational Agriculture
Instructors Association last Friday nigh and Saturday at the Kirkwood Hotel in Des Moines. At this meeting plans were
formulated for the issuance of a state newletter and Mr. HAUPTMANN was given the responsibility for the editing. The
Iowa group is publishing a newsletter for the first time. The purpose of the letter will be to keep the membership
well informed of developments on both state and national levels. The Iowa membership now numbers over 300.
The Blackmore square dancers of the Blackmore corner vicinity will appear on KRNT-TV Friday evening, Dec. 23, at 6:30 p.m. It
will be their second appearance having been presented on the Smoky Smith Show early in October. Dancers include
Norma WILSON, Judy KEPLINGER, Karen FENTON, Janet LONGCOY, Dave MATHANY, Gary CREVELING and Kenneth and Robert LAY.

Raymond LINTHICUM of the Shannon City vicinity recently purchased from Clinton RICE two lots on Highway Nos. 2 and 169 near the
Mahan Monument Works. Mr. LINTHICUM plans to establish a drive-in Dairy Sweet next spring. He and his wife and 13-year-old
daughter, Kay, reside on a farm north of Shannon City.
