The Diagonal Maroons fell in the first round at the state basketball tournament.

Four Mount Ayr Community high school speech contestants will be participating in the state individual speech contest at Creston Saturday. Shaun Hayse, Stacy Jennings, Elsa McAlexander and Heather Jennings all advanced to the [state] contest with district division I ratings from a March 2 contest.
