For the second time in two months, Ronald MAHERS, 21, of Murray, escaped from the Ringgold County Jail on the fourth
floor of the Ringgold county courthouse. At approximately 10 p.m. Saturday, June 16, MAHERS escaped, only to be recaptured
by authorities at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17. According to the Ringgold county sheriff's office, MAHERS
got out of his cell by removing a light fixture from the ceiling and crawling through the hole and over into the
next room.
Troy CLARK and Jeannette ROBERTSON of Diagonal have successful auditioned and have been selected to represent Diagonal as
members of the Southwest Iowa Honor Band which will perform in the Cotton Bowl Parade in Dallas, TX next winter. This is
the first time that Southwest Iowa will be represented in the parade and the Southwest Iowa Band Directors hope the
idea will be successful and continue in future years.
First baby to use the new nursery facility at Ringgold County Hospital was Charles Dean EMIG, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Rick EMIG of rural Kellerton, who was born at the hospital here Tuesday, June 12.
Doctors Duane MITCHELL and Sudir MARFATIA plant to open a branch clinic in Grant City, MO, hopefully in August,
according to Dr. MITCHELL. MITCHELL says that they are waiting for Dr. MARFATIA to receive his Missouri license.
